South East Country Sharks Summary 2016/17
In an unprecedented season, the South
East Country Sharks, representing the South East Country Region in Cricket
Victoria’s Pathways Program had very successful campaigns, with the Under 16’s and
Under 18’s both participating in the State Final. From September until the end
of December, FPCC provided training facilities for each of the Squads to
utilize, and closely supported all three teams through the Championships,
including hosting six matches at Jubilee Park.
Captain Tom Ewing led the way with the
bat for the Under 18’s, battling with a broken finger to still score 266 runs
for the carnival at an average of 88.67. Tom Ewing was awarded joint player of
the championships, and was presented with his medal following the Grand Final
held at the MCG.
Ryan Hammel was the highest run scorer
for the South East Country Sharks Under 16’s, compiling 202 runs at an average
of 33.67. The side made a competitive 10/214 at the Grand Final in Geelong, but
it wasn’t enough for South East Bayside who won with six wickets in hand.
